Horses

Are you afraid of pulling a horse from the slaughter pen?  Allow us to find a horse for you and we'll evalute them at our farm.  We've found many diamonds in the rough .

Scott and I would love to try to fit a horse to your needs.  Send us an email with a request:  Lilyun@aol.com

Below: Horses we've helped through the years.

Prince, formerly known as Mitch, is now showing in NY.
First day after being pulled from slaughter pen. Mitch: TB gelding 17.2H Superior show horse, easy going, willing. There was a sweetness to his face that begged us to take him home. I'm so glad we did.
After three years with us. Beautiful, isn't he?
Below, Jazzy is showing and giving lessons to an adorable little girl.
Jazzy pulled from the slaughter pen.
Jazzy made for a wonderful lesson and trail pony.
Vinnie has crosse the rainbow bridge. He touched all of our hearts.
Sarah reassuring Vincent we'll take good care of him
Sonia, a dear friend, shares a moment with Vinnie.
Vinnie crossed the rainbow bridge. His left front ankle was fractured. Despite his pain, he would try to lope with the others to keep up. We admired his spirit and miss him.
Ginger: Owned and love by the Runyans. Crossed the Rainbow Bridge at 40 years old. Originally rescued from an abusive home 25 years prior. She finished top in her 'hay day' in competitive eventing and dressage. We miss you, ole girl. 10-07
We can't save them all, but we can offer a peacful home and green pasture. Mary: aged Belgain mare pulled from slaughter. Gentle, in-your-pocket "I'm really a chihauhau" kind of horse. Crossed shortly after her pasture buddy, Ginger, left. Humanely euthanized
Our Horses: All are pulled from slaughter auctions or rescue organizations, retrained, treated and loved.

PETE  is a wonderful Paint gelding rescued from the KILL PEN in New York.  He was holed up with 300 other horses and ready to load into the livestock truck.  He was moments away from slaughter in Canada when a rescuer called ANOTHER CHANCE FOR HORSES and told them about Pete.  He was saved.

PETE neck reins, is responsive to leg pressure, trail rides bareback and is a big doll baby with other horses in the pasture.  He had bruises on the soles of his hooves in the front and was sore.  Upon further evaluation, Pete had a severe absess in his left front.  With the help of our vet and the skill of our farrier, PETE is on the road to recovery.

PETE and Sarah, my daughter, have bonded.  He stands at the gate and whinnies at the top of his lungs when she gets off the school bus or when we step out of our house to walk to the barn.  He's such a character.  We're glad that AC4H introduced us to Pete and hope that he will be as happy here as we are happy to have him.

Henry:  A TB who never stepped foot on a race track due to poor confirmation: toed in.  He is now partnered with a gentleman who loves to trail ride.
Sam relaxing with "Henry"
Below: Sierra is a tank in the woods and a fearless trail horse. She is my favorite to ride bareback.
Sierra: Buckskin QH mare, teenager. We outbid the kill buyer. 15H, excellent trail horse.
Sierra's first day at Wild Hare Acres
Floats like a butterfly at the trot
Sierra already knew how to flex
Nana: 30yo pony. She stood all alone in the slaughter pen, She's our mascot and cuter than the dickens!
Before her bath
Nana on left...Pete, also bathed, on right
Sweetpea: Now showing with a 4H girl. Good Luck Hannah!
Sweetpea's new owner: Hannah. Sweetpea has taught Hannah how to canter and they're already in the blue ribbons. A perfect match.
Sam on Camel the Haflinger pony in the slaughter pen. Rides and Drives. Place with a Vet in NY
Nana on left. Frankie on Right. Frankie rides, drives and is now placed in a loving home.
Thanks Bridgett, for offering Frankie a new loving home!
Reba, 5yo Tennesse Walker. Green broke. We follow Clinton Anderson's training techniques. Reba thinks she's a Great Dane!
Sarah and Reba, sleeping in the sun. Who said she was green broke? This horse is so mellow. Goes everywhere on the trail and is getting better with each ride. I've never owned a horse so smart and so willing.
Me and Smarty taking a reining lesson. Love her big QH butt.
Daisy: Slaughter Pen rescue. 3yr old. Kind, willing, placed in new home where she is spoiled and loved. She was in perfect health. I don't understand why they dumped her. Trailered, bathed, tacked up fine. She was not broke, but learned quick.
